This is use full when you unalbe to import the client after installing the agents. or you are
moving clients to another cell manager. in my case i moved the client from one cell manager to another cell manager by simpling uninstalling from existing cell manager after updated the disk agent or required integration agent to that client from new cell manger for that client. after that added the path in cell info now i am able to fire backup and restore. after that i thought for a single client with in 2 cell managers i tried it with Vmware workstiaons having 2 differen cell managers and one client with disk agent and media agent here i got sucsess i am able backup and restore through boath cell manager.

can't import host for Cell Manager in Cellmanager2 and i am update the client through cellmanager2 after its able to import the client.
after adding that i fired 2 backups in different cell managers the details and timeing and cell manager info is highlighted in redboxes.
My main concept is when ever the host not resolved or not imported the client we can use same technique .

And now this: I made a new server, installed hpdp6 on it, added my clients from old server, and now i want to have the 450 GB data files also read in the new installation. A great misser from HP, not allowing to import/export the backup config settings, and the files.

ReplyDeleteIf your want to import alredy taken backup catlogs into new dp cell manger insert the tape into tape library and import catlog then u can restore the backup.
if you want to take backup and you are unable take that backup
chek following steps
add all host entries in cell manger,clinet & installation servers (\etc\host or drivers\host (win/unix) .
after that push the disk agent to the client.
after that try to take backup if you are getting security error( mostly you will get this error)
add cell manger host entry in omni client configutation (the file name will be allow_host)
