DCBF is moved getting errors ????????

Data Protector could not store a part of the detail catalog during the backup or import. All files that are backed up on the same device after this message are not marked as backed up in the Data Protector Internal Database. Backup is still valid and restore of complete objects is possible.
------------

* Check the additional error message for the cause of the problem and fix the problem. Most often the problem will occur when the disk runs out of space or when the maximum size limit of the DC directories is reached. * If you want to browse files in that particular backup import the catalog for the medium that was in use when the error occurred and all media that were written after the error in the same device
----------------------------

Check for possible reasons why those files can be missing and try to fix the issue. For example if the file is on the filesystem that is for some reason not mounted, mount it ... * If file is really missing, you can get the contents of the file back by executing the following procedure: 1) Stop all sessions and close all GUIs 2) Run: omnidbutil -fixmpos 3) Find the correct medium and run "Import catalog" for that medium. Note that the debug.log contains the medium ID of the file and that you can use: omnimm -media_info * You may want to further check the Internal Database and then recover it if required. See the chapter "Managing the Data Protector Internal Database" in Data Protector Admin Guide

The above messages contains the problem and it solution. we found when some of dcbf files moved related bakup is firing at that time it is fired. if dcbf directory getting more space simply map additional directory to IDB but don't move to some other place

Some of errors in IDB

The above screens shows IDB databases(MMD, DCBF) errors. when thease errors occured the best tool fix this is omnidbcheck -fixmpos, Pls go through my previous post on this for more details.

Finding Medium

The Above screen shows medium importing ,
Yesterday i faced a issue with LTO3 Tapes when the tapes changed by some other egneer mistakenly he changed the tape in different slots. so we run the scan command in DP the entire tapes lost their pool names, after that import/scan command we indified each tape belongs to which pool the above screen shows the same.

HP data Protector backup /session Notifcation Configuration

Data protector Has it own Event log Manager and even you can configure Email Notifications.
I use Hmail Server to configure SMTP Email for my Dataprotector cell Manager. Here we can configure backup session, device failure , unexpected event details like number of varieties are there. for more info go through the screenshots. But one good thing if you have more backup operators administrator want to know what kind of backup fired by which operator(session user) is one kind of good information we can get in mail.
And built event log consist all kind information which configured in notification(Data protector Event log). there if observe we can learn more troubleshooting....

This is my Fifty First Post . I Choose some different subject as blog is dedicated to VMware ,Backup And Storage so i decided to post VMware ESX.
My PC configuration is AMD Phenomin Quadcore with 4GB Ram. and i Used Vmware workstation 6.5 for this use and i installed VMvare ESX 3.0.2 on this its worked perfect and i am able to installed Virtual Machines in this. Pls go through above screenshots.
More important thing is modifying the VMX configuration file. you have to add a line in this for that i am posting my entire VMX configuration file so if any body facing any problem they can compare the configuration file.

Most Comman Problem with Host Entries in Data Protector

Most IPC error occurs in Dataprotector due to host name resolutions. to avoid IPC errors and to backup and restore any client i thought above way we can add client information in all clients host entry. I had this experience when restoring also we need installation server tobe resolved by destination restore client . so i hope above method may avoids most of IPC errors .

Hp Data Protector Recovering IDB Using omnidbutil fixmpos, omnidbcheck -bf , omnimm -media_info

When you run omnidbcheck -bf you will find if any corrupted dcdf file in IDB . in my case i deleted 2 dcdf file from the mapped directory and i run the command . then it showing 2 dcdf file are missing and not found ERORR. after that i run omnimm -media_info for that particular catalog id and i got the pool ,device information. so to fix this i run omnidbutil -fixmpos.
then i tired to restore the session which has been deleted previously its working but one problem if found that the maped dcbf directory not working it simply storing defatult path (ie. c:\programfiles\omniback\db40\dcdf only.

Hp Data Protector importing host, omnicc -import_host, adding ,importing a client into cell manager, adding client in multiple cell managers,cell_info

This is use full when you unalbe to import the client after installing the agents. or you are moving clients to another cell manager. in my case i moved the client from one cell manager to another cell manager by simpling uninstalling from existing cell manager after updated the disk agent or required integration agent to that client from new cell manger for that client. after that added the path in cell info now i am able to fire backup and restore. after that i thought for a single client with in 2 cell managers i tried it with Vmware workstiaons having 2 differen cell managers and one client with disk agent and media agent here i got sucsess i am able backup and restore through boath cell manager.
Differen phases with screen shots.

Main Cell Path info

can't import host for Cell Manager in Cellmanager2 and i am update the client through cellmanager2 after its able to import the client.
after adding that i fired 2 backups in different cell managers the details and timeing and cell manager info is highlighted in redboxes.

My main concept is when ever the host not resolved or not imported the client we can use same technique .

HP data protector How to add A Client in two Cell Manager, omnicc -import_host

Is it possible ? . Let me try

I tried this after facing a small problem in office yesterday night.

We got 2 sites in our office production environ and development is another one.

we have two data protector cell managers which are not all having any relationship.

Today i have to restore the Production database to development server but development server is not a client of Cell Manager1{production}. it is a client of Cell manager2{development}.

Hp Dataprotector idbutil and detail catalog binary files (dcbf)

One of the best tool in DP where its dealswith DCBF
(Detail catlog binar file database. ) nothing but storage session information which consits entire details of a particular session.
we faced a realtime problem in this senario where my C: drive is having less space and after some days (nearly one year +) my c: drive is full and i have to map another directory to Dataprotector. so below example is

dcdf is having 4gb space by default i maped to a dricroy into c:\ and given prioriy 0 so now Data protector is using mapped directory as dcbf catalog directory. but in realtime senarion we have to work with global option file. unfortunetly i dont have the screen shot of my work on that day.
in trail version you may not face any problem but realtime you may not get this much easy work done . For more info gothrough my previous posting on GLOBAL OPTION

One of most realtime utility in Hp Data Protector.
